How to Play Thundercrash, Step by Step
Thundercrash takes about ten seconds to learn and much longer to understand. The controls are simple: pick a stake, watch the airship climb, press cash out before the burst. What trips people up are the details around that loop, such as the Bonus Bet, auto cash-out and what happens when your connection drops. This walkthrough covers Qora's 2024 Thundercrash first, then notes where the Bodog-network ThunderCrash behaves differently.
Before You Press Anything
Open the rules screen. Every licensed casino has to show the game's information panel, and it is the only place that tells you the exact limits at that operator. Look for:
- Minimum and maximum stake at this casino
- Maximum payout per round, which can cap a win before the multiplier does
- Bonus Bet terms: cost, trigger and payout
- The RTP shown for this version (Qora lists 97%; an operator should not show a different figure without explanation)
- What happens on disconnection
If you cannot find these, try the free demo first. Our demo guide explains where to look.
The Round, Step by Step
#### 1. Set your stake
Type an amount or use the plus and minus buttons. Decide this number before the session, not between rounds. Changing stake size after a loss is the most common way a small session turns into a large one.
#### 2. Decide on the Bonus Bet
The Bonus Bet is a separate wager placed on top of your main stake. It is optional. Leave it off until you have read its paytable, because a side bet's return is not guaranteed to match the main game's 97%.
#### 3. Choose manual or automatic cash-out
| Mode | How it works | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Manual | You press cash out while the airship is flying | Learning how the multiplier moves |
| Auto cash-out | You enter a target, such as 1.80x, and the game cashes out when it is reached | Removing split-second decisions |
Auto cash-out does not improve your odds. It only executes the decision for you. If the burst comes at 1.40x and your target is 1.80x, the stake is lost exactly as it would be with manual play.
#### 4. Place the bet during the betting window
Bets are accepted before the flight starts. Once the airship is moving, new bets wait for the next round.
#### 5. Watch the multiplier climb
The number starts at 1.00x and rises. The animation is decoration; the burst point was decided by the random number generator when the round began.
#### 6. Cash out or ride
Press cash out and the payout is your stake times the multiplier at that moment. A 2 dollar stake cashed at 2.50x returns 5 dollars, a profit of 3 dollars.
#### 7. The burst
At a random point the round ends. Any stake still on board is lost. A new betting window opens shortly after.
Reading the Screen
- Live multiplier: the big number in the centre.
- Round history: recent burst points. Useful for seeing how often low results appear. Useless for predicting the next one, since rounds are independent.
- Other players' bets: shown in many crash lobbies. Their decisions do not affect yours or the burst point.
If You Are on the Bodog-Network ThunderCrash
The arcade version on Bodog, Bovada, Ignition and Slots.lv follows the same loop with a few specifics reported in published guides:
- Stakes run from $0.50 to $100.
- After you hit Take Off, a six-second countdown gives you a final window to place a bet.
- Each player appears as an 8-bit avatar with their bet shown underneath; the avatar turns green when that player cashes out.
- The maximum payout is $100,000.
- Bovada's help pages state that auto cash-out runs on the server, so it is not affected by your connection, while a manual cash-out request can arrive too late if your connection lags.
That last point is the practical one. On an unstable mobile connection, a manual click a fraction of a second before the burst may not count.
Common Beginner Mistakes
- Raising the stake to win back a loss. Each round has the same expected return. A bigger stake only makes the expected loss bigger.
- Treating the history panel as a pattern. Five low results in a row do not make a high one "due".
- Ignoring the payout cap. A huge multiplier on a large stake can hit the cap long before the multiplier ends.
- Using the Bonus Bet blind. Read what it pays before it costs you anything.
A Worked Example: Ten Rounds on Paper
Suppose a player stakes 1 unit per round with auto cash-out at 1.80x and no Bonus Bet. Here is one plausible run of burst points and what each one pays:
| Round | Burst point | Result |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 3.12x | +0.80 |
| 2 | 1.05x | -1.00 |
| 3 | 2.40x | +0.80 |
| 4 | 1.33x | -1.00 |
| 5 | 7.90x | +0.80 |
| 6 | 1.81x | +0.80 |
| 7 | 1.00x | -1.00 |
| 8 | 1.62x | -1.00 |
| 9 | 2.05x | +0.80 |
| 10 | 12.40x | +0.80 |
Six wins and four losses leave the player 0.80 units ahead. Notice rounds 5 and 10: the airship flew far past the target, and the player still collected only 0.80. Auto cash-out caps the upside by design. Run the same exercise a few hundred times and the average result settles near a 3% loss per unit staked.
A Sensible Way to Learn
Play a few dozen demo rounds with manual cash-out to get a feel for the speed. Then try auto cash-out at a fixed target and watch how often it lands. You will learn more about variance in twenty minutes of free play than from any video promising a system.
